New Music Saturday
August 13th, 2005 by JoshJust went to Tower Records and picked up some great new CDs. Some of these I’ve been listening to for a while on Rhapsody but I just needed to get them in a physical, high quality medium.
- Matisyahu – Live At Stubb’s – Everyone’s favorite Hassidic reggae rapper.
- Feist – Let It Die – I’ve written before about how great this album is.
- Nickel Creek – Why Should the Fire Die? – A truly unique take on neo bluegrass from this young trio. I’ve been listening to this album non stop since Tuesday and HIGHLY recommend it.
- David Poe – Love Is Red – I did a session at XPN with him and fell in love with his last disc, The Late Album. Michaela Majoun told me once I look like him.
- Orchestra Baobab – Pirates Choice – Senegalese music that Dave and Trey first turned me on to. Their Live 8 set from Johannesburg was fantastic.
- Dungen – Ta Det Lugnt – I don’t know much about this Swedish psychedelic rock group but what I heard at the listening station caught my interest.
It’ll take a while to completely digest these records, but it’s been far too long that I’ve only been listening to downloaded music. Go see Live Music, support Local Artists, and buy the records that let all these great artists live and perform.
