Illadelph
August 14th, 2005 by JoshGrowing up in Philly with plenty of friends from New York you definitely develop a bit of an inferiority complex regarding our fair city. It IS dirty and there really isn’t much to do after 2 am. But finally even the New York Times is recognizing, in a strange combination of adulation and condescension, how much Philadelphia truly has to offer:
Attracted by a thriving arts and music scene here and a cost of living that is 37 percent lower than New York’s, according to city figures, a significant number of youngish artists, musicians, restaurateurs and designers are leaving New York City and heading down the turnpike for the same reasons they once moved to Brooklyn from Manhattan.
Someone told me six months ago that Philadelphia was the new Brooklyn. Is it now confirmed? Strangely the article makes no mention of Camden.

See, this is how old I am: when you say that there’s nothing to do after 2 am, I’m thinking – sure there is, sleep.
I think Camden would be happy being Philly’s Brooklyn.
