The Night John Lennon Died.

March 20th, 2006 by Josh

I didn’t write anything here a few months ago on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the assassination of John Lennon. Although Lennon and the Beatles were a constant in my life growing up I didn’t exist at the time of his death and as such never felt qualified to comment on his legacy. I did spend that night singing his music at karaoke however.

WFMU, independent radio from New York, has a fascinating little clip of someone scanning the FM dial that night. It’s really an incredible snapshot of a moment in time. Go listen.

I was in seventh grade when Michael Chapman (if I remember correctly) shot John Lennon
that morning I played oppossum and stayed home
it was not an unusual game for me to play
seems like i enjoyed reruns of I Love Lucy more than I enjoyed school

on this day I listened to the radio
tried to soak it all in
    death/assasination and the question why….
it was alot on my mind

I still have a pile of news clips from his death
