Here we go with this week’s Friday Random Ten. Added some good music to the iPod this week so let’s see what we get:

Notorious BIG – Juicy

Squarepusher – Fat Controller

Patty Griffin – Nobody’s Crying

Phish – Train Song (8.17.1996)

The Thorns – I Told You

Valery Gergiev – Lever du jour

Mike Gordon – Exit Wound

White Stripes – Well It’s True We Love One Another

Favorite Song: Tie between Oh! You Pretty Things (just about my favorite Bowie song) and the all-time classic Juicy – “birthdays was the worst days, now we sip champagne when we’re thirsty…”

Least Favorite Song: Well It’s True We Love One Another. I don’t get it.

It’s the day we all wish was just a little bit shorter. Friday. And that means I’m breaking out the player and firing off a round of random (yeah, too much Colbert recently).

Res – How I Do

Curtis Mayfield – Mr. Welfare Man

Dr. Dre – The Car Bomb

Cat Stevens – Father and Son

Bjork – Desired Constellation

Dr. John – Loop Garoo

Polyphonic Spree – Section 11 (A Long Day Continues/We Sound Amazed)

Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades

Derek Trucks Band – Kam-Ma-Lay (feat. Ruben Blades)

The New Pornographers – Falling Through Your Clothes

Listen on Rhapsody – Rhapsody doesn’t have any Sufjan so I threw on the just released Guster song, “Manifest Destiny.” If you’re not a Rhapsody user you can also head over to their MySpace page to hear it. Bodes well for the new album if you ask me.

Favorite Song: Father And Son
Least Favorite Song: Desired Constellation (I appreciate this all-vocal Bjork album on an intellectual level but find it pretty difficult to enjoy aesthetically.)

As an aside, there’s been a lot of sports writing here recently so I thought I’d point you to a local sports blog I’ve really been enjoying, the aptly named Scrapple.

Yaya3 – Hometown

The Beatles – Yellow Submarine

Favorite Song: Andy Warhol. Personally I prefer Hunky Doy over Ziggy Stardust.

Least Favorite Song: Catacea. I dig this album but always skip this intro track.

Favorite Album on List: How could it NOT be Revolver? Ween’s Chocolate and Cheese gets an honorable mention.

I don’t actually know all these artists, but so far it’s been a good playlist.

*This is the second time I’ve written about this tune this week (are the Rhapsody people reading this?) and damn is it a good song.

I’ve got a much more substantial post about this weekend’s Italian Market Festival brewing in my head, but to satiate my blogging needs for now I’ll humor Scott and fill out this quiz. Bear in mind, I would normally boycott these, but this one’s about music (forgive my changes to the format):

Total size of music files on my computer:
On this computer? 50.8 GB. Figure another 15 GB on my other machines. Yeah, I’m a digital packrat. (Update: My iTunes library on my Powerbook is 2012 songs, 6:14:38:53, 10.45 GB)

The last CD I bought was (when I’m not just streaming off of Rhapsody):
remarkably, also <a href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playListId=58049795" ">Songs for Silverman by Ben Folds.

Song playing right now in Rhapsody:
Simple Sister by Procul Harum

Five Songs I listen to a lot, or mean a lot to me (really what I’ve been into lately):

Overkill by Colin Hay/Men At Work

 Breakdown More by Eric Hutchinson

Come Downstairs and Say Hello by Guster

 Jesusland by Ben Folds

 Goodbye Head by Trey Anastasio.

I’m too lazy to build all those Amazon links right now. But check out AllMusic.com for the bible of pop music.
